THE DAILY REFORMER (NEW YORK, UNITED STATES)
If Bill Gates gets his way, we’ll all be saying, “Where’s the beef?” soon. Gates, who despite not being a medical doctor or environmental scientist, likes to give us minions all sorts of advice on what to inject into our bodies and what to eat.
Now, Bill Gates, in an effort to save the planet, is advocating for “all rich countries” to shift to “100% synthetic beef,” according to The Blaze.
Goodbye juicy hamburger for Five Guys.
Goodbye filet mignon from Ruth’s Chris.
But, don’t worry. Gates promises you’ll get use to the taste.
You can get used to the taste difference, and the claim is they’re going to make it taste even better over time. Eventually, that green premium is modest enough that you can sort of change the [behavior of] people or use regulation to totally shift the demand.
Bill Gates remarks came while he was being interviewed by MIT Technology Review to promote his new book, “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster.” Gates took the opportunity to explain how cows are going to kill our oh-so-fragile planet.
One area where Gates has become more optimistic is in the idea of transitioning folks away from beef, since cows are notoriously viewed as damaging to the environment due to emissions from their flatulence.
On this topic, Gates told MIT, “In terms of livestock, it’s very difficult. There are all the things where they feed them different food, like there’s this one compound that gives you a 20% reduction [in methane emissions]. But sadly, those bacteria [in their digestive system that produce methane] are a necessary part of breaking down the grass. And so I don’t know if there’ll be some natural approach there. I’m afraid the synthetic [protein alternatives like plant-based burgers] will be required for at least the beef thing.”
Now wouldn’t you know it, Bill Gates went on in the interview to call attention to meat alternatives companies Memphis Meats, Beyond Meat, and Impossible Foods. It should come as no surprise these are all companies he invests in. Can you say, conflict of interest?
Look, I’m not against beef alternatives being in the marketplace. Heck, I’ll even try them, and if they are tasty, healthy, and affordable, I’ll eat them on the regular. However, none of that makes me a believer in the cows are destroying the planet theory nor a supporter of any future push to ban real meat. God gave us cows to eat and I’m going to give thanks and eat them.
People are not taking kindly to Bill’s latest advice.
Bill Gates says “Rich nations should shift entirely to synthetic beef.”
I’m thinking Americans will be eating real beef for a while since we’re $27.9 trillion in debt.#sassywithmassie https://t.co/FvrdX58USR

Why is Bill Gates getting involved in nutrition now?
He’s sure got a lot of experience between epidemiology, environmentalist, his medical degree and now nutrition.
Now we have to eat plastic burgers to stop global warming?
