McCain Fires Back Against ‘View’ Co-hosts, Media, Demonizing GOP as Racist, Extremist Party

THE DAILY REFORMER (NEW YORK, UNITED STATES)

Meghan McCain wasn’t taking any more abuse from her View co-hosts on Tuesday’s show and fired back after liberal host Sunny Hostin accused the GOP of being radical extremists.

While venting about how former President Trump was acquitted in his Senate impeachment trial, again, Hostin repeated for the umpteenth time her ugly accusations that the Republican party was now the party of extremists. She ended her rant with this smear:

“The Republican party, shameful, shameful, shameful, stood and didn’t mind that police officers were murdered. Didn’t mind that our democracy was attacked. Didn’t mind any of that and that’s what the Republican party is today,” she accused.

While Hostin has made similar remarks over and over again this past month, McCain hadn’t pushed back until today. She finally called out her co-hosts’ and the media’s ugly rhetoric by pointing out how they don’t even hold Democrats to the same standards they set for the GOP:

MCCAIN: [I] think it’s easy to say that the Republican party is only the party of QAnon and you know, all these things. If that’s the truth, then the Democratic Party is the party of Socialism and late term abortion and cancel culture and no responsibilities or ramifications for any of your actions. And you can burn down cities like Kenosha and it’s fine and there’s no ramifications. These are broad stroke platitudes. I don’t believe either are true.

McCain proposed that the media’s “brandishing” of conservatives as crazy conspiracy theorists isn’t hurting Trump, citing polls this week showing he still has the majority of the Republicans’ support. She blasted the media trying to demonize every pro-life conservative who doesn’t want to become a Democrat, as a fringe extremist:

I think the idea that the Republican Party is just one swath is just — it’s just not nuanced and the problem I have the only way to become a good Republican is to become a Democrat, according to the media. I just–I don’t know what to do anymore. I can’t keep going on TV and saying that we’re all Nazis, and Hitler salutes and whatever, it’s just not intellectually honest.

But Whoopi Goldberg got the last word in before commercial and used it to berate McCain:

“The Republicans have brought this on themselves. They brought this view of them on themselves,” she scolded, before doubling down on Hostin’s lie that Republicans were “okay” with violence: “[T]he Republicans, you showed your faces, you said you were okay with everything that happened. All the things that we’ve been taught as Americans that are not okay. You said it’s okay and you opened the door for these people to continue to act poorly.”

Whoopi also took a dig at McCain bringing up abortion:

Everyone has the right to make the decision they need to make for their life. For their life, okay? And so when we talk about what you believe or what this one believes, or what that one believes– the bottom line is, whatever decide to do as a woman with your body that should be between you and your doctor. And sometimes poor women might need help. That’s what this all comes in about.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Sunny, your thoughts on all of this?

SUNNY HOSTIN: Well, we knew that this was going to happen, the Republicans told us that this was going to happen and history has its eyes on them. You know, I have said it over and over again this is the Republican party today. It’s the MAGA party, it’s the QAnon party, it’s the Confederate flag, statue-loving party, it’s the Trump party, that’s the party of today. Those that refuse to be apart of that type of party get censured, get nasty letters from their families, get ostracized. That’s what our country is looking at today the party of you know, white supremacy, the party that carries you know, swastikas in the Capitol. That’s what we’re looking at, I know people are disappointed, I’m disappointed certainly but I’m not surprised and I’m not surprised at the hypocrisy that Mitch McConnell showed. He actually, after his acquittal, voting to acquit this president said very clearly, but he’s responsible for the insurrection, he’s responsible morally for the insurrection, responsible for the insurrection, but the reason I voted to acquit is because you cannot — you cannot possibly try a former president that is no longer in office, yet we all know, we all saw Mitch McConnell you’re the reason why the trial happened after President Trump left, because you refused to start the trial while he was in office, you can’t have it both ways. But that’s what he did and the Republican party–shameful, shameful, shameful, stood and didn’t mind that police officers were murdered. Didn’t mind that our democracy was attacked. Didn’t mind any of that and that’s what the Republican party is today.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: So, Meghan, what’s your thoughts on all of this? As you sit and what happened over the weekend.

The Daily Reformer  Biden Admin Rushes to Embrace Beijing: Sen. Cruz

MEGHAN MCCAIN: Yeah I mean I have a lot of different thoughts. I think it’s easy to say that the Republican party is only the party of QAnon and you know, all these things.

I don’t think Republicans are simply QAnon supporters, I don’t think Democrats are simply Socialists. The thing that I worry about right now is that we’re not using our intrepid values to go forward and try to fight for what’s still good in this country and as long as we go back and forth on this there will be no resolution and things will only get worse.

I will say in response to the impeachment hearings over the weekend and on Friday, you know, I think it’s easy to think that we can just put this like delve of 25% of people that, you know, the crazy whatever, how the media’s brandishing them– these crazy QAnon Trump supporters shame them into nonexistence, but there’s a lot of polls that have come out that are reading the tea leaves really differently. There’s a Morning Consult poll said that Trump has 77% approval rating, only 27% of Republicans blame him for riots and 81% of Republicans give him a positive marks all the way around.

The thing that I would say as much as the left wants to act like these are — that Republicans are only QAnon supporters, part of the problem is, for someone like me, when I hear that I automatically get very tribal, and I’m like, ‘I don’t want the left.’ Because for me, I’m the most intensively pro-life person that I know of, particularly on main stream TV. I believe that abortion is murder. I believe that life begins at conception. I  know that the opposite party says there are some people that don’t agree with me, think that abortion should happen up to late term, So I think the idea that the Republican party is just one swath is just — it’s just not nuanced and the problem I have the only way to become a good Republican is to become a Democrat, according to the media. I just–I don’t know what to do anymore. I can’t keep going on TV and saying that we’re all Nazis, and Hitler salutes and whatever, it’s just not intellectually honest.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Well, let me just say something for poops and giggles. The Republicans have brought this on themselves. They brought this view of them on themselves. Because the things that this former president has been supporting has not been good for the whole country, it’s good for lots of folks but it’s not good for everybody. So when we say, listen, you should be — you should be a little uncomfortable because we sort of went through it and we’re going to be going through this again. You brought this on yourself. You’re thought of this way because that’s what you’ve shown everybody. When it comes– let’s talk a little bit about women and having babies. Everyone has the right to make the decision they need to make for their life. For their life, okay? And so when we talk about what you believe or what this one believes, or what that one believes–the bottom line is, whatever decide to do as a woman with your body that should be between you and your doctor. And sometimes poor women might need help. That’s what this all comes in about. But these are the same issues that we talk about all the time. Do you have the right to decide for me what I should do for my body? Some people say yes I can, some people say no. This is going to be a conversation going on and on and on. But for me, the Republicans, you showed your faces, you said you were okay with everything that happened. All the things that we’ve been taught as Americans that are not Okay. You said it’s okay and you opened the door for these people to continue to act poorly.
