According to a new report from the Star Tribune, Minneapolis is now considering bringing in outside police officers amid a shortage.
Nikki Haley responded to the story by tweeting “This turn of events is tragic.”
She added “The defund-the-police movement may not have won many policy victories, but it has still succeeded at dismantling many police forces. The American public will pay the price.”

Per the Star Tribune “Minneapolis officials are considering bringing in officers from other jurisdictions to help the city’s Police Department as they face a wave of violent crime and an officer shortage.”
The report adds “If the mayor and City Council approve the plan, officers from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and Metro Transit Police would temporarily work with the city, primarily helping to respond to violent 911 calls.”
The Minneapolis City Council in June unanimously passed a resolution to replace the police department.
Per the Daily Mail “The council said they would pursue a community-led public safety system as a replacement
Council members signing the resolution said reform of the police would not work and a full replacement of the current system was necessary.”
