The following article, RIP: Conservative Icon Rush Limbaugh Dies of Lung Cancer at Age of 70, was first published on Big League Politics.
Talk radio giant and conservative hero Rush Limbaugh died on Wednesday at the age of 70 after a battle with terminal lung cancer.
His wife, Kathryn, made the announcement on her late husband’s radio show. Limbaugh outlived his terminal diagnosis, remaining on the radio throughout his battle with cancer. He has known for months that his death was imminent.
Former president Donald Trump gave Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom last year during the State of the Union Address, a proper send-off for a man who was the voice of a generation of conservatives whose way of life has been under attack from a leftist globalist establishment.
“Rush Limbaugh: Thank you for your decades of tireless devotion to our country,” President Trump said during the address.
Big League Politics reported on Limbaugh’s lung cancer diagnosis shortly after he announced it on his radio show last year, which led to an outpouring of sympathy from conservatives whose ideologies he influenced throughout decades on his show:
Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh disclosed on Monday, February 3, 2020 that he has an advanced form of lung cancer.
The conservative commentator still has plans of hosting his show throughout his treatment. “(I plan to) do this show as normally and as competently and as expertly as I do each and every day because that is the source of my greatest satisfaction professionally,” Limbaugh stated. “(and) personally.” …
Limbaugh has been one of the most prominent voices in the conservative movement for decades and is a fierce opponent of political correctness.
The story surrounding Limbaugh’s health status is still developing.
For staunch conservatives, this is very sad news and a firm reminder of the mortality of some of our greatest political champions.
Even though there were some liberal haters who wished suffering upon Limbaugh, the outpouring of love since Limbaugh’s diagnosis nearly brought him to tears while addressing his fans.
“I feel very blessed to be here speaking with you today. Some days are harder than others. I do get fatigued now. I do get very, very tired now. I’m not gonna mislead you about that,” he said last year.
“But I am extremely grateful to be able to come here to the studio and to maintain as much normalcy as possible -and it’s still true. You know, I wake up every day and thank God that I did. I go to bed every night praying I’m gonna wake up,” Limbaugh added.
Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ movement owes a great deal to Limbaugh for showing there is a market for brash political commentary that rejects political correctness. This right-wing icon will be missed immeasurably.
